October 30, 2008 Ad Hoc Committee Meeting
Present: Chris Cobb, Janet Fore, Kitty Green, Joe Incandela, Daniel Party, Charlie Peltier
Announcements:
- Two possible days for next FDD: Thursday Jan 8 or Friday Jan 9. The
latter seems to be the best option. - Next GenEd lunch is scheduled for Monday, Dec 8, 2009.
- The first GenEd lunch of the Spring semester will take place on Mon,
Feb 23, 2009. - The next AACU annual meeting is in Seattle, January 21-24. Perhaps a
group of us could attend. - Dean Fleming suggested to Joe that our committee may be ready by now
to draft a proposal for the General Education curriculum. - Kitty suggested that we should collaborate with the Assessment
committee following IUPUI's model: we could oversee the formation of a
small cadre of faculty willing to rework their syllabi using learning
outcomes.
The rest of the meeting was used to prepare for our meeting with the
departments of History, Humanistic Studies, and Communication. We
developed questions we would like to ask to those departments.
