February 19, 2010, Ad Hoc Committee Meeting
Present: Chris Cobb, Janet Fore, Kitty Green, Joe Incandela, Michael Kramer, Laurel Thomas, Don Paetkau
Minutes of the February 12, 2010 meeting were approved.
The committee spent the meeting discussing questions or issues voiced at the Board Meeting on February 18. The following decisions were made:
We discussed specific feedback from members of the Education Committee point by point. Several of the issues raised dealt with operational details which are beyond the purview of our committee.
We continued discussion regarding the relationship between the Critical Thinking Seminar and the Cross Currents advising program. While we strongly endorse an integral connection between the two, we agreed that claiming this as a certainty was premature, given the complexity of its implementation.

- To add the diagram to the cover page of the Guide
- To visually “construct” the diagram layer by layer in the Guide, using the method used for Joe’s presentation at the board meeting.
- To clarify the paragraph describing the learning outcomes for LO3, specifically those related to global learning.
- To remove some points about the Common Experience that we judged to be more procedural than programmatic.
- To further clarify the document’s use of the term “Catholicity.” Joe will review the document for occurrences of the term throughout the document.
