January 22, 2010, Ad Hoc Committee Meeting

Minutes of 12/2 meeting approved
“Punch list” of final things to do discussed. We will try to meet from noon until 2:00 on Fridays this semester.
We discussed revised curriculum guide. Joe is seeking feedback, especially on the rules section.
Patricia discussed two options for stipends from committee work over break (add to salary or to travel allowance). We should inform her of our consensus decision on this.
We discussed the upcoming meeting of the Education Committee of the Board of Trustees, scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 9:15-11:15 a.m. A resolution on our proposed Gen Ed curriculum will most likely be issued from this committee to the full Board of Trustees. Karen Schultz Goodyear, Chair of the Education Committee, would like to get the full support of that committee before the new Gen Ed curriculum goes to the full Board of Trustees, so we need to educate the committee on this before they present it to the full Board. Therefore, we will deliver a presentation to the committee at the 2/18 meeting.
We started discussing how best to present the Gen Ed curriculum to the Education Committee. A presentation based on the learning outcomes was discussed along with where to place Women’s Voices, Experiential Learning, Integration, and Critical Thinking within that structure. The committee also anticipated potential questions about assessment.
