The Committee reviewed our meeting schedule. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 31 at noon. Another meeting is even more tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 2 either at noon or at 2 pm.

The Committee discussed the process by which the hybrid Purpose, Goals, and Outcomes statement would be presented to the faculty for review and approval. The committee confirmed a plan to present the document for general discussion at the Gened Lunch scheduled for late November. At some point, a sentence-by-sentence review of the document by the faculty (using clicker technology to make voting efficient) will need to take place. The committee will aim to have a good draft of the statement ready in time to solicit comments from departments and programs prior to the Gened Lunch.

The Committee began to review and edit the hybrid statement (informally to be known as “AD,” since it supercedes B and C). Numerous changes were made in each section.

The Committee decided that the “homework” for the next meeting should be for each committee member to compare carefully the hybrid statement to the B and C statements, so that editing can proceed briskly at the next meeting.
